Wild Olive Cottage Hotel Adelaide
Wild Olive Cottage is very luxurious, rated 4 stars by the AAA, well equipped and fully air-conditioned. It is set in beautiful, award winning gardens, quiet and private, yet walking distance from Cygnets restaurant. The Rising Sun Hotel (very good meals) various antique shops, and wineries. It is situated a minutes walk from the start of the beautiful, 27 kilometre Riesling Trail.
The cottage was built in 1860, and is Heritage SA and National Trust listed. The cottage has been extensively and expensively, renovated and is designed to be bliss and luxury for one couple.
Upstairs is a magnificent, Victorian antique, nickel and silver iron Queen-size bed. There is a luxurious black leather suite, with armchairs, and settee. The open fire is wonderful to sit round on cold nights, (iron combustion stove) and there is plenty of things to entertain yourself with- TV, DVD, VCR, CD, tapes, a movie library, games, books, etc. Within the cottage, there are some beautiful pieces of furniture and original artwork, much from local artists. Of special interest is an antique Polish love seat, made in the 1800's about the same time as the cottage was built.
An internal metal spiral staircase joins the two floors. Down stairs you will find a fully equipped gourmand kitchen, the benches are topped with Mintaro slate and the cupboards are Blackwood. There is an underbench oven, glass cook-top, microwave, dishwasher, the finest European glassware and crockery. From the dining area you look directly out of French glass doors on to the beautiful garden. Directly out of the French doors is a pagoda covered slate patio, with a teak outdoor setting, sun lounges, a market umbrella, a BBQ and some intriguing old farm implements- we are still not sure what they were for.
The cottage has a luxurious bathroom, fully tiled, with a beech-wood vanity topped with local Mintaro slate. There is a large, deep spa bath in which to luxuriate and the linen and robes supplied are all of the finest quality cotton.

Stroll to Mt Horrocks, Grosset, or Taylor's wineries, or take a drive or a chauffeured tour to visit the many other wineries scattered through the valley. Take a trip to the new wave of olive oil and fresh olive producers, and taste their various products. Dine in the Valley¿s many restaurants, cafe's and winery eateries. Admire the unspoilt Victorian buildings in Auburn, Mintaro or the other villages in the Clare Valley. Pick through the art galleries and artists studios. The Clare Valley has a large community of extremely talented artists, such Julie- Anne Pulford, Harry Sherwin, Murray Edwards, etc. There are also many antique shops to pick through for the one item that may complete your collection. However, don't forget to relax and enjoy the luxury of Wild Olive. Soak in the spa, dine al fresco under the pergola. In Winter what could be more enjoyable than to relax in front of the fire? In Summer, just enjoy the beautiful garden with towering pepper gums, or loll in the sun on the lounges. The Clare Valley is all about relaxation, pleasure and enjoyment. If traveling from Adelaide turn left when reaching the town of Auburn just before the Rising Sun Hotel. This street is called St Vincent Street and Wild Olive Cottage is about 500 yards along this Street, on the left hand side. There is ample parking.
